Max Apps ("Company", "we", "us", "our") operates the Passage application ("App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use the App.
Account Information: When you create an account using Sign in with Apple, we receive your name and email address (or a relay email if you choose to hide your email). We store your user ID, display name, username, and optional profile picture and bio.
User Content: We collect and store the content you create and share through the App, including photographs of book passages, highlighted text, book titles, authors, comments, and descriptions.
Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with the App, including posts you like, bookmark, or comment on, users you follow, and content you report.
Device Information: We collect your device's push notification token (via Firebase Cloud Messaging) to deliver notifications. We also collect basic device information necessary for the App to function.
We use your information to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the App
- Display your profile and content to other users
- Deliver push notifications you have opted into (likes, comments, new posts, replies)
- Personalize your feed based on users you follow
- Display daily quotes in the home screen widget
- Moderate content and enforce our Terms of Use
- Respond to user reports and support requests
- Analyze usage patterns to improve the App (using anonymized, aggregated data only)
Your data is stored securely using Firebase services (Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, Firebase Authentication) hosted on Google Cloud Platform infrastructure. Data is encrypted in transit using TLS and at rest using AES-256.
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising purposes.
We may share your information with:
- Firebase / Google Cloud: As our infrastructure provider, for data storage and app functionality
- Apple: For Sign in with Apple authentication
- Law enforcement: If required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or the public
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we permanently delete all your personal data, including your profile, passages, comments, likes, bookmarks, follow relationships, notifications, and feed data.
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data through the App
- Correct your profile information through the Edit Profile feature
- Delete your account and all associated data through Settings
- Opt out of push notifications through the App's notification settings or your device settings
If you are a resident of the European Economic Area, you have additional rights under GDPR, including the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
The App is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the App. Your continued use of the App after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
